Canton City School Student Achievements
- A McKinley student received a National Merit Corporate Scholarship from Nationwide Insurance.
- A Timken student received the Federal League's Commissioners Award as the league's Top Male Scholar/Athlete.
- A McKinley student earned a National Merit Negro Scholarship.
- 4 Timken students completed criteria for the Ohio State University's Young Scholars Program.
- 2 McKinley students were named Canton Repository "Students of the Month".
- 2 Timken students qualified to compete at the National Business Professionals of America competition in Nashville, TN.
- Timken Sr. High was selected as a recipient of a Venture Capital Grant ($25,000 per year for 5 years).
- The McKinley Varsity Football team competed for the second straight year in the OHSAA football playoffs.
- A Timken student received a Marine ROTC scholarship to the University of Michigan valued at $75,000.
- 7 McKinley students and 9 Timken students received Vocational Awards of Merit.
- A Timken Automotive II student competed with 600 students to receive a full scholarship for $13,500 to attend Northwestern Ohio Diesel College in Lima.
- The McKinley Varsity Girls Basketball team advanced to the OHSAA State Tournament "Final Four" in Columbus.
- The Crenshaw Jazz Band and Honors Band both placed First at the Cedar Point Band Festival.
- 5 Lehman students were named National Science Foundation Young Scholars. Each scholarship is worth $15,000.
- A Souers student won the Stark County Board of Realtors "What I Enjoy About Living in my Community" Contest.
- Crenshaw's Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl Team placed sixth in Ohio.
- A Souers student took first place in the Leila Green Alliance of Black Educators Middle School Contest.
- A Hartford student won First Place in the Ohio E.P.A. Essay Contest.
- A Crenshaw student won first place in the Canton Rotary Essay Contest.
- A Souers student won a Gold Key Award and the National Scholastic Art Award which earned him and his family and art teacher a trip to New York to see his art work displayed at the National Art Gallery.
- A Lehman student was one of 5 state finalists in Art sponsored by the Ohio Middle School Association.
- A Souers student became a member of the USA Gymnastics Team.
- The following Crenshaw teams were City Champions - Girls' Volleyball, Wrestling, Boys' Track, and Girls' Track.
- 8 Souers students won the prestigious National Science Merit Award.
- 180 Belden students were recognized as "Student of the Month" by the Canton Urban League.
- A Cedar student placed first in the 5th grade Track Meet.
- Clarendon's 4th & 5th grade Basketball Team won the 1995 City Schools Championship.
- A Fairmount student placed 10th overall in a State Gymnastics Tournament - 9th in floor and 1st in vault.
- A Mason student tied for first place in the D.A.R.E. "Radio PSA Contest".
- 7 Clarendon students placed first in Skills Day events.
- Gibbs was named Project-Get Alarmed Elementary School for Stark County. 3 students also won the related Poetry Contest.
- A Mason third grader was the 1995 Co-Champion in the State Chess Tournament, qualifying him for the National Meet in Little Rock, ARK.
- A 4th and 5th grade Harter student won the 1995 Math Olympics.
- 2 Lathrop students were awarded scholarships to attend the Wooster Outdoor Camp Program.
- A McGregor Primary 1 class received Honorable Mention in the Stark County Video Contest sponsored by Warner Cable.
- 2 Mason 5th grade students placed first in Skills Day events and 4 Mason students placed first at the Natatorium.
- 3 Harter students won the White Oaks Nursing Home Coloring Contest.
- 4 Lathrop students were awarded $500 from the Metropolitan Industries and Fisher Foods Scholarship program.
- McGregor students won the Achievement Award from Pepsi for collecting 14,255 caps. They received $712 and were the top collector in Stark County.
- A Belle Stone student won first place in the State for her poster on the living garden from the Ohio State University Agriculture Extension Service.
- A Washington student was selected as an Outstanding Safety Patrol Member by the Canton AAA. He was recognized at a meeting in Columbus.
- 2 Woodland students and 11 Worley students received the President's Academic Excellence Award.
- 2 Worley students were awarded first place in the Annual Fire Fighters Essay Contest.
- 2 Adult Vocational students were qualifiers in the annual Ohio Skills Competition.
